We all heard the saying: A book is man’s best companion/friend (keep the dog aside this time around). Actually, a book is the best companion to all men, women, boys, and girls. And reading books is a very useful and satisfying hobby to acquire and cultivate.
There are a number of reasons for the above statements, below are a few:
A book offers reading material to every person without any bias.
Reading books offer a person a wide spectrum of topics of which to choose based on interests, age, or profession.
Reading helps improve language and the use of words, idioms, and expressions.
Reading also improves grammar and vocabulary.
Reading a book introduces human thoughts and ideas to the young and old, with the same ease and in a neutral environment.
Reading books introduces and teaches people about the history of human civilization and its progress and development.
Reading books is relaxing, as it grabs the attention of the readers taking them into the world they are reading about and away from other toxic issues.
A book does not argue with the reader. It presents information and allows the reader to assimilate that information at his/her ability and in his/her own time, without any pressure.
Let us go back to revisit “Reading”; since the early days when schools were introduced, their primary task was to teach a community how to:
Recognize the various glyphs, script, characters and/or letters used in the community’s language (what can be called: the alphabet).
Learn and recognize the sound of each letter.
Learn to write each letter.
Pronounce the letters correctly.
Form the words, then pronounce, and write the words.
Read short, and long text in the community’s language.
A person, once able to read, will open a whole world of wonderful sources of knowledge and information. To mention some of them, people will be able to:

It is beneficial to know that parents that read to their children from an early age instill in these children the love of reading and the fascination with books and knowledge. Such children grow up with an easy and relaxed attitude towards books. These children have an affinity towards learning through reading. Such enthusiasm and love for books and reading propel them towards excellence in their academic life.
Moreover, persons that are relaxed, fond of reading, and are avid readers tend to be successful in their professional life. Nowadays, reading represents a large portion of a manager’s daily activity. Reading reports, documents, projects proposals, letters, contracts, articles, and even newspapers will need someone who would not shy away from going through them and understanding their contents, as well as their implications and effects on the business.
